Sharing its courtyard with the Piggy Hostel, Hideaway in Vagator, North Goa is a perfect place to spend quiet afternoons. I was introduced to this place by a good friend who specializes in finding such locations. The first time I had been there was on a winter night in pre-Covid-19 days. Though it was comparatively dark, the vibe of the place was enough to infuse one with energy and liveliness. The next time I managed to go there was on a rainy afternoon. Now, that was a good decision.

A word about the food. Though the items on the menu are restricted, they allow just enough options to keep the conversations going. The hosts do an excellent job of preparing fresh meals. In case you would like to modify your order they would happily do so.

The drinks (cocktails, in particular) are a completely different story than their food. Suffice it to say that there is a chance that you may have had better. But then, Hideaway is not a place where you go to get high. It is an urban oasis in the desert of chaos that our lives have become.

One special mention: their teapots. There aren't many places in the state (as per my limited knowledge) where you can get good, exotic tea. After a decent amount of munching, people feel relieved if they are able to wash it down with a nice cup of tea. In this regard, Hideaway does a good job of providing a quality product.

With not-so-loud music, friendly ambience and quiet surroundings, it is a recommended place for people who need some downtime after a probably hectic week. If you are staying in the Northern part of Goa, do check out this quaint little place and let us know how your experience has been.
